The Antlion Audio ModMic Wireless Attachable Boom Microphone for Headphones offers phenomenal sound quality and is very convenient to use. It can be attached easily to headphones and is compatible with PC, Mac, Linux, and PS4. This microphone picks up little to no background noise in uni-directional mode with better sound quality than you would get out of a Blue Yeti product. With proper gain settings and ideally noise filtering, it should not pick up VR headset sounds. However, the build quality of the mic is not great for something of this price. The magnetic connection is sturdy but the plastic around the magnets creates a wobble-like effect on the mic whenever you move your headphones, and the plastic teeth around the magnet wear out over time, making the modmic fall down and unable to stay upright on the headphones. The wire attaching the modmic base to the boom is literally only glued in to the base, so if you move it around too much it’ll permanently be wobbly and move around. The battery life is just okay, and the button on the ModMic itself is a pain to use. The timing for its different functions (pairing, turning off) is way too strict, which is very frustrating when attempting to quickly pair or shut it off. All these issues make it an expensive disposable mic that may break after two years.
