Product Details
- Thomas Morvs' Vtopia, written in Latin, is a foundational work of utopian literature and political philosophy. Originally published in 1516, this enduring classic presents a fictional island society with seemingly perfect social, political, and economic systems. Through the eyes of Raphael Hythloday, More critiques the corruption and inequalities of European society, offering an alternative vision of communal living, religious tolerance, and rational governance. Vtopia is not merely a blueprint for an ideal state but also a thought-provoking exploration of human nature, power, and the possibilities of social reform. This edition allows readers to engage with More's original text and appreciate the nuances of his arguments and satire. It remains a vital text for students of political theory, history, and literature, inviting readers to contemplate the enduring question of how to create a more just and equitable world. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
