Magnetism Editorial Review
Electricity and Magnetism is a highly regarded textbook by Edward Purcell, praised for its innovative approach in teaching electromagnetism through three foundational laws. The third edition introduces significant updates, such as a shift to SI units and an extensive problem set with complete solutions, enhancing learning. Readers find the text clear and often engaging, making complex topics understandable. However, it does require a prior understanding of special relativity and vector calculus for optimal comprehension. Many appreciate the real-life applications presented at the end of each chapter, contributing to a practical understanding of physics. Overall, it's deemed an essential book for students wanting a solid foundation in Electricity and Magnetism.
